Think Of A Beautiful, Ten-Year-Old Girl Standing In The

Think of a beautiful, ten-year-old girl standing in the mirror, clutching her stomach and tears rolling down her cheeks because she is being teased for not being as skinny as the other girls in her class. She looks at the models on TV and envies their skinniness. She wants to look just like them. At ten years old, she starts running after dinner and not eating as much as she use to eat. That beautiful little girl is just like every woman all over the world; she is pressured to by the media to have a â€Å"perfect body.’ Women all over the world are coerced by society to change the way they look. These women are beautiful just the way God made them, but society is trying to destroy that by making teens and women alike think believe they have to†¦show more content†¦These women need to be told every single day that they are beautiful the way they are, and they should not change for anyone or anything. Society’s pressure on women not only creates eating disorders, but it also creates mental disorders. This pressure can cause women to develop anxiety, depression, problems in relationships, and substance abuse. New research suggests that ten million women in the UK are depressed because of the way they look(Sanghani). The media managers take size zero models and morph their bodies into unrealistic sizes. Women and teens look at these fake pictures of models and start thinking that that is what they are supposed to look like. They put themselves through diet and exercise to try to get to the â€Å"perfect body† standard. However, if they do not see results, they are disgusted with themselves which makes them think negatively of themselves all the time. Women often do not go shopping because of the size they are. They avoid two-piece swim suits and crop top shirts. Women should not idolize these fake models the way the media does. The media should not think as highly of t hese fake models in the way that they do. Along with mental disorders comes low self-esteem. Low self-esteem can happen in girls as young as first grade and women as old as 65.
